STATE TEAMS

Congratulations to the following players who have been selected in the Under 17 State Team that is going away at Easter to play in the Under 17 June Bevan Championships.

Ede Clendinnen Shield

SA Badminton has been successful in applying for the Ede Clendinnen Shield to be held in Adelaide.

The dates for the event are the 31st July to the 7th August 2010.

Venue: SA Badminton Headquarters, Rutland Avenue, Lockleys.

Events: Teams and Individual

Closed Tournament for Australian Players and will have a bearing on the team picked for the Commonwealth Games in Delhi India during October 2010.

It is expected that teams from Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria, Tasmania, Western Australia and South Australia will participate while there may be an outside chance of teams from NT and the ACT also taking part. Nominations have not been finalised at this time.

A committee has been formed between some current board members and past players to ensure that all runs smoothly.

It is our desire to have players and lovers of badminton engaged in this week long event to see how the standard of Australia’s best sits with our own standards .

We are particularly wanting to encourage junior players to come along and learn how hard they have to work to meet the International standards. It is also hoped that we can encourage Regional clubs and players to come along to the event.

Our other endeavour is to encourage overseas students to visit and work their way into the badminton community

As we get closer to the staging of the event we will have further details posted on our web site and email notices will be sent out to club secretaries both city and regional.
